Constable and Toop by Gareth P. Jones.

Story line.
Constable and Toop story line was quite quick, hard to keep up with and it kept changing problems but it was constantly exiting and often puzzling. It did pass between people but when you’re thinking somebody’s the enemy they sometimes aren't so it isn't an ‘easy read’.
4/5

Characterization.
Even though the characters clearly aren't real, when you get into Constable and Toop they seem more real than you are! Only a few characters seem ‘good’ or ‘kind’ whilst hardly any are truly happy. Although sad, the characters are interesting and exiting.
5/5

Themes.
Set in Victorian London, Constable and Toop has a sad, gloomy feel about it but is always exiting and keeps getting new twists, good and bad, in the tale. Anybody looking for a jolly, happy story would be disappointed.
5/5

Readability
Although a great book, Constable and Toop is a hard book to read and I would only recommend it to ten years and up and only if they enjoyed a sad, scary, adventure story.
2/5

Overall score = 16/20
‘A great book with some scary twists.’

  2. What a fantastic book review, Grace - well done! You've really made me want to read Constable and Toop - perhaps we'll be able to borrow a copy? Ash Class have got The Considine Curse (by the same author) for their book project - hopefully they enjoy it as much as you've enjoyed this one!
    Mr K :-)
